Dear PS 145 Families,
I am writing with an important update for our community. The NYC Public Schools Office of District Planning is issuing a proposal to co-locate a new site of an existing District 75 school in our school building.
What Is a District 75 School and How Does a Co-Location Work?
District 75 provides highly specialized instructional support for students with significant learning challenges. If the proposal passes, this D75 school would occupy a small portion of our school building beginning in the fall of 2025. This D75 school would be a separate school with separate staff, students, and funding, and it would not be considered part of PS 145 Magnet School of Leadership through Engineering.
How Would This Co-Location Affect PS 145 Students & Families?
If this co-location proposal passes, I will work closely with the Office of District Planning and the leadership of the D75 site to provide space to the D75 community, while ensuring our students and families are able to enjoy the same high quality educational experience we currently have.
What Is the Process for Approving This Co-Location?
Members of the District Planning team met with our SLT earlier this month to share more information. The District Planning team recently posted an Educational Impact Statement on the NYCPS website, which is linked below. All members of our community are invited to a Joint Public Hearing (JPH) for this proposal. Following the Joint Public Hearing, the Panel for Educational Policy will consider the proposal and make a final decision on the co-location.
